Egyptian politics: immoral bastards play the immorality card against the opposition

  • Anti-Baradei activists on the Facebook group "Those who have honour are dead: the secrets of the Baradei family" posted this photo of pro-democracy activist, former IAEA director and Nobel Prize Laureate Dr. Mohammed El-Baradei's daughter Leila El-Baradei in a swimsuit. The aim: to discredit the Baradei family as "not Muslim enough" and "not in conformity with culture and tradition" to politically-oppose the regime. As if Leila is the first or only lady in Egypt to don a swimsuit.

Different rumours - true or not - accompanied this and
other photos. Some photos claimed, rightly or not, that Leila El-Baradei drinks alcohol, socialises in places with wine and spirits, wears bikinis and is married to a British, Christian man. Mohammed El-Baradei accused the regime and its security apparatus of promulgating these rumours, distributing these photos and dishonouring his daughter
    .

I have never been a supporter of El-Baradei, and I despise him and his reform plans - especially the obscure and pretentious "7-Point Manifesto". But I cannot hide my disgust at the filth and lowness of this new anti-Baradei campaign.

Some of the group's claims against Leila were proven false by witness accounts. One such claim was her marriage to a Christian Briton in contradiction with Muslim law which prohibits a Muslim woman from marrying a non-Muslim man. Photos of Leila's wedding in the Egyptian Embassy in Vienna with its Viennese artwork were used to substantiate this seemingly-false claim. However, an Egyptian diplomat speaking on condition of anonymity confirmed that Leila El-Baradei's marriage was held in accordance to Islamic law and witnessed by her father, then-IAEA director, and the Egyptian Ambassador in Vienna in 2006 and is documented in the Egyptian diplomatic and civil records.

Her photos any no more revealing nor are they any less 'modest' than what one encounters at most Egyptian beach resorts or what most upper-middle and upper class Egyptians wear on the beach in Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurgada, Ein Sokhna or Marina on the North Coast! And whether or not Leila 'consumes alcohol' should most certainly not be part of public debate. Not to mention that, as the daughter of a diplomat and a former IAEA Director and an expatriate who spent most of her life between Vienna and other European capitals, it's only understandable that Leila socialises in places where alcohol is served and consumed - assuming she doesn't herself consume it.

After all, providing guests with alcoholic beverages is part of the Egyptian diplomatic protocol despite the fact that Egyptian culture frowns upon the consumption or mere presence of alcohol!

اللي اختشوا ماتوا أسرار عائلة البرادعي

But whether or not Leila is a respectful lady is not my issue here and should not be part of public debate... The issue was certainly not meant to be one of morality - but one of electoral politics.

    Who are they fooling?

A handful of filthy anti-Baradei activists saw an opportunity in making these photos public and promulgate these rumours to assure low support for Baradei amongst Egypt's conservative lower classes and rural constituency - the ones that are kept in the dark from the corruption of the ruling business oligarchy and the traditions and norms of Egypt's upper-middle and upper classes, including those in diplomatic positions or official posts.

Some tweeters reported earlier that the photos might be fake... I have never met Leila in person and have no way of confirming or denying the validity of these photos. But the fact remains: someone out there played the morality card to discredit El-Baradei in a country where things like this will most certainly matter.

But, I wonder, if these photos are proven to be false: how much publicity will given to the negation of the validity of these photos? And what would the reaction have been had these photos been of one of the respectful ladies from the "Holy family" or from an influential business or political family? Will this disgusting attack against the Baradeis be given the same reaction Sadat gave Sheikh Kishk when he called the then-First Lady Jihan Sadat a prostitute?

What shocks me even more - as usual - were comments posted by the members of the aforementioned Facebook Group. The comments can be read under the photo here. But below are some of the more striking one:

    Ahmad Faid (06/09/2010 @ 02:32):

As an Iranian I deeply wish that Egyptian revolution does not get hijacked by Islamist as it was in Iran 30 years ago. Egypt today is drawing the picture of middle east for tomorrow. A democratic secular Egypt bring future to the region and an Islamic government takes the region back for many decades.

    Dear Egyptian fellow!
Be aware of Islamists and Islamic leaders. They are typically devious, sneaky and dishonest and professional liers and play dirtiest tricks possible in the name of Islam but for their own purposes.

30 years life under an Islamic regime's control (Iran)has proved that an Islamic regime is a serious threat to humanity, freedom and democracy.

Be extremely aware and good luck with your movement!

As an Iranian who has experienced an Islamic regime, I strongly recommend not to trust Islamic or any other idealogic politician. An ideal Islamic government will never be brought to you by Islamic activists. At least do not let them enter political scene before the crisis is over and the country is back to a stable state.
We Iranians are proud of you, brothers and sisters! Take care.

To the free people of Egypt, make sure you aim for a secular type of government and a separation of state and religion to be stated in your constitution. In Iran we have learned the hard way that religion and freedom of expression do not mix and are not compatible. We also had our revolution hijacked by religions opportunist in the name of God and Islam. Look at us now. Religious politics leads to dictatorship, suppression and lack of human rights, period.

As an Iranian, I tell you that all of the anonymous comments above is from almost 2 or 3 people that are telling you the big lie, like what they are doing here.
the green opposition in Iran is supported by USA and by Israel and they are big lies, their leader Mousavi last year told the biggest lie of our history and claimed that the election was fraud but he didn't present only 1 good evidence of that claim and became the biggest liar of our country.
Don't trust even one of their word and I admit again that the green opposition is supported and financed by USA and Israel.
to prove my word, review the news about the financial aid from USA congress for "REGIME CHANGE" in Iran.
majority of IRANIANS support our Islamic government and hate the Green Opposition.

Like my fellow men from IRAN, I really wish you won't buy religious ideologies to build your future on. It's dark and full of ignorance, full of savage and pain. We have seen and suffered from an ugly one one here. Lots of us have been murdered, raped, and tortured since 1987 and especially after the last (so-called) presidential election. We are educated, nice, forward-thinking young men and women and we have seen many brutality from this regime in the name of God and Islam. Listen Mustafa the action that you have taken here in a very small society really goes to show the characteristics of the Islamic Regim, which is lies, ignorance, and hatred towards anyone but MUSLIMS. First of all you are acusing every body to send fake commaents and then when I mention to you that is not possible becuse website analytics can determine that you start connecting me to Israel and USA or other fucking country you like. This is of the same mannerism of the Islamic Regime; when they can't answer intelligently and logically they start to blame others for being democratic and humane. Islamic Regime of Iran rapes, tortures, and kills their own people and if anyone stands up for the people of opposition they accuse them of being a representative of Israel or USA. Why can't you for once open your eyes and realize that THE PEOPLE OF IRAN by their own will the same way they brought you to power, want the Islamic Regime to step down not the USA or Israel or anyone else.

Islam and Democracy does NOT get along
Fellow Egyptian make up your mind, and be honest with yourself. Democracy and Islam have different systems of values. I am not suggesting one or the other. But I can share Iran experience with you; Islamic and any ideological governing system has a natural tendency to scarify the democracy and human rights in favor of their own values. Be aware of mixing these two. If you in favor of Democracy said it loud and up front.

    to مشتی خاک:
1)If you are educated and nice and good, is something different from what the majority say,It is important to determine on what the majority says, not what so called educated say.
2)believe that all the rude comments is from real greens, and If I want to cheat, I could send comments as anonymous to show how many we and the people who think like me, are.
3)what call savage and pain is the result of disobeying the election rules, is the result of destroying public places and facilities like banks, stores, buses. that is the result of the terrorists support of you. that is the result of riot against the majority vote and opinion.

    to رستم فرخزاد:
1)the action and the way that your friends of green oppositions done toward me really goes to show the characteristics of the Green opposition, you made a mistake here. If my behavior show Islamic Regime, let it be done, this is a good comparison about how we treat and how you treat.
2)Don't fool the others, I didn't relate what you said about IPs to USA financial support, that was on another subject.
detecting IPs is not a good way to stop people to comment.
AND you cant deny or reject the US and Israel support to Green opposition. they are in the news and if you deny that I'll put the news here to see who cant answer logically and to show who is the liar.
by the way, the people in Tehran are not the representative of whole Iranians in other cities, Green demonstrations was only in Tehran. but you see in Egypt,it is in more than 4 cities. They are majority, you are minority.

    To majid:
1)I just answered in the answer to moshti khak, but I have to add that:
you wanted your votes, your leader Mousavi everywhere and everytime said we obey the rules, I am here to return to the rules, and so on. what he did was disobeying the rules. and what he did was inviting the greens to riot.
the people in Tehran streets were not all Iranians, didn't you see how monafeghin and other terrorist groups wanted to misuse the opportunity that you and your leader mousavi gave them?
2)our leader Khamenei said I am upset of kahrizak, I am upset of is done in Tehran university and what is done with name of me. You see how individuals participating in Kahrizak jail are punished and they are punished and jailed. this government that has done this, is not dictatorship.

3)to let the people demonstrate, there is rule. and fortunately this subject is ruled in Mousavi government. study the rules.

    To you Mostafa:
How many green demonstration you were in to see what happened each time there?

-All the time it was those savage animals that started to drive cars and motor bike through the dense crowd of people, families, ladies who were demonstrating peacefully.

-I do need to swear to God, or whatever is sacred for people like you, but I have witnessed all these sights with my own eyes. It happened to my best friend who got arrested just because he was crying freedom. no weapon, not even a stone in his hand. Mostafa, you know these heartless creature very well, yeah you do.

This Islamic corrupt regime in Iran do not want to see even a little word against itself and agianst Khamenei. it is called "religious Fascism" it has a definition, just search it in google.

Oh, GOD, there have been so many human disasters in this country, so many savages throughout these years, Oh God, help me to survive this anger, give me patience.

-You have had all the media, TV (all the
Iranian channels), radios, newspapers for three decades, all run by the money and wealth of this country.

    - you have filtered all the websites and personal pages and web blogs you couldn't tolerate. you even imprisoned a 16 year-old high school boy. just search in internet.

-You can't even tolerate a paragraph, even a sentence against yourself. You have countless political prisoners.

-You have slaughtered, tortured, imprisoned lots of writers. Can you imagine that? all this because they were writing sentences!

    - anyone who says sth against you, either gets in prison=rape, torture, not just keeping away from society. or you just hang them accusing them with the plot against God and state. last week you hang a member of your own Revolutionary Guard in Khuzistan with the accusation of claiming himself as God!!!, just because he had criticized Khamenei.

You said to me: 3)what call savage and pain is the result of disobeying the election rules, is the result of destroying public places and facilities like banks, stores, buses. that is the result of the terrorists support of you. that is the result of riot against the majority vote and opinion.

SO, You agree that you did all this!!! You raped boys and girls because they destroyed public places, haa?!! Well, thanks!!! You are marvelous!

You do not wanna accept the fact that this regime is " I write "corrupt", you read "sinner". I don't say any bad words to you, and I do not wanna convince you here, cuz it's your own life, and your own destiny, but brother, you are keeping close your eyes, trying not to see all these sins, all this paradox.
